On 15th September 2012, there was a guest lecture by Mr. Sanjay Chatterjee, HR Country Head, Nuance Group which has a joint venture with Shoppers Stop in India. Mr. Chatterjee has seventeen years of work experience and national exposure in Information Technology and Human Resource Management. He is an excellent motivator and a decisive team leader.
The lecture started off with the basic insights into the field of Human Resource and the retail sector i.e. what is human resource and the role of HR professionals as a business partner. We were told about the role played by HR managers two decades ago and the increased and very important role of HR managers in the present era which not only limits to recruitment, performance, development and retention of employees but goes way beyond to being a strategic partner, a change champion, an employee advocate, an admin expert.
Further he said that retail is one of the emerging sectors in the job market and it is at a very nascent stage in India. We were also told about the current trends in the retail sector and the numerous job opportunities in this sector. Mr Chatterjee also threw some light on the future scope of the Human resource and the retail industry.
The valuable inputs given by Mr. Chatterjee will greatly help the students in having a vivid picture of the Human Resource and the Retail industry.
