ISME Bangalore organized a guest lecture on “How to be Effective Managers” for the students on 7th September 2011, the speaker was Colonel Vijay Batra.
Mr. Batra is a highly acclaimed motivational speaker who served the Indian Army for 25 years before he moved into the corporate world. He has been associated with companies like Verifacts services and Trident Hyundai.
Colonel Vijay Batra talked majorly about the challenges emerging managers and leaders face today. He advised students to adopt a 360 degree approach to learn and tackle situations around them; he also put a great emphasis on the difference between a leader and a manager. During the session, Colonel Batra spoke to students about taking ownership and that students should have a great curiosity to learn things and not to assume them.
Over all, his lecture which included various real life examples and student interactions was very effective, interesting and informative. He ended the lecture with beautiful words of Eleanor Roosevelt.
“Do what you feel in your heart to be right, for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do and damned if you don’t.”
